Google may have recently updated its search ranking algorithm. The result of this unconfirmed update was evident on June 14, 2023, when several SEOs reported spikes in their Google rankings.
Unlike previous unconfirmed updates where SEOs reported drops in their traffic, they even reported increased traffic from Google. Some even noticed 200% more traffic than usual.
What Are People Saying?
Barry Schwartz asked his audience if they detected traffic fluctuations on their sites. Several SEOs reported an increase in their Google traffic:
A decent spike when compared to hour to hour same day last week 😊

@rustybrick Certainly! I have observed a slight decrease in keywords and organic traffic. The tools I'm using indicate a minor decline. pic.twitter.com/3Y2GdH4Fcl

What’s Next – Dealing With This Update
As with most unconfirmed updates, it is hard to detect the intent or existence of this update. Interestingly, on this same day (June 14, 2023), Google released a new search spam report form where web users can report spammy, deceptive, and low-quality web pages.
While there is no clarity on how this form is related to the update, it is possible that several SEOs have started reporting spam techniques, and Google may have rewarded pages with high-quality content. That said, you can make use of Rank Math’s Analytics to monitor your site for traffic fluctuations.
If you detect a drop in your traffic, watch the below video to learn how to recover from a Google algorithm update.
